The North Peace Summer Scrap Drive is happening now!

On August 12, the first annual Summer Scrap Drive kicked off in the North Peace.

McLean Welsh from ABC Recycling based this drive on a similar annual event in Campbell River. The event in Campbell River generated over $26,000 for their hospital foundation.

According to the media release, McLean is confident with the support of local industry in the North Peace, Fort St. John can raise $50,000.

While this event primarily serves as a fundraiser for the FSJ Hospital Foundation, it also creates opportunities for friendly competition while encouraging the recycling of scrap metal.

From August 12 until September 12, the corporation that recycles the highest value of metal will be awarded a unique, hand-crafted cowboy hat by Bischoff Welding, made entirely from scrap metal.

The aim is to exceed the $26,000 raised in Campbell River by reaching $50,000 through this campaign. To meet this ambitious target, over 400 tons of metal will need to be recycled during the campaign.

“Join us in making a difference in our community while enjoying some friendly rivalry. Let’s work together to support the FSJ Hospital Foundation and make this Scarp Metal Drive a huge success,” said ABC Recycling’s McLean Welsh.
