Site C now has three out of six generators operational and is currently more than 90 percent complete.

A media release from BC Hydro near the end of February claimed that three out of six generators are currently operational, contributing substantial amounts to B.C.’s energy supply.
“With the third generating unit in operation the Site C project is now delivering more clean energy to B.C. homes, communities, businesses and industry,” said Adrian Dix, Minister of Energy and Climate Solutions.
“I had the privilege of touring Site C recently. To see this incredible project close up is to fully appreciate its sheer scale and complexity, and I was grateful for the opportunity to thank, in person, many workers on site for their knowledge, skills and commitment as they continue to work hard to bring the project to completion later this year.”
The first generating unit began operating in October, followed by the second in December. Each unit has a capacity of over 180 megawatts, supplying enough electricity to power approximately 80,000 homes.
The fourth generating unit has begun testing and commissioning work, with BC Hydro claiming to still be on track for all six generating units to be operational at Site C by fall 2025 according to the media release.
When fully up and running, Site C will produce enough clean energy to supply nearly 500,000 homes, boosting BC Hydro’s overall electricity capacity by eight percent.
