The male suspect reportedly entered the hotel and threatened the front desk clerk with a large knife and demanded cash. The suspect also took a set of vehicle keys from the office before leaving the scene.

Local RCMP were responding when they were informed that the suspect had fled the scene, and upon arriving discovered that the male suspect stole a vehicle using the keys that were taken from the hotel.

According to the RCMP media release, it’s noted that the suspect fled the scene and was traveling southbound on Highway 97 in the stolen vehicle.

Although local officers conducted a thorough search, the RCMP was unable to locate the stolen vehicle.

The Fort St. John RCMP were informed later that day, near 4:00pm, that the Fox Creek RCMP in Alberta located the stolen vehicle and had taken the suspect into custody.

The suspect is being held in Alberta while awaiting court proceedings, with charges of robbery and breach of probation being forwarded for approval.

There were no injuries in the incident, and the suspect's name is being withheld as the charges have not yet been officially approved.
