Skateboard session for evacuees!

Cole Andrews of Victory Skateboards and Goodlo Holdings and Tank Truck Services held a skateboard session at the Pomeroy Sports Centre on the east rink in Fort St John on May 17, which was free for evacuees 10 years or older.

The first 18 kids to arrive received a brand-new skateboard set up that they could use and take home, which was sponsored by Goodlo Holdings and Tank Truck Services. “First person I called was Goodlo Holdings and Tank Truck Services, they agreed and were awesome when I said we need 20 boards for these kids,” said Cole Andrew.

“The hope is that these kids can spend their time at the skatepark with their new boards. I think they’re really struggling to fill their days right now,” said Cole Andrews. “We know that throughout the course of the weekend and into the week, we will get all the boards given away. Maybe the one silver lining to all this is they get introduced to skateboarding, and that could be a lifelong passion for them.”

A second skateboarding session has been organized by Cole for Tuesday May 21, from 10am until 12pm. The first 12 will receive a skateboard to use and take home and will be at the Pomeroy Sports Centre east rink again where no registration is required, just proof of evacuation.
