School District 60 receives $20,000 donation from Shell Canada Ltd.

Recently Shell Canada Ltd. donated $20,000 to School District 60 in support of the student safety training.

Shell Canada Ltd. has kindly contributed $20,000 to School District #60/Peace River North to fund critical safety training for students, providing them with essential skills and certifications to align with industry standards.

“Shell Canada Ltd.’s support helps provide our students with training that is in demand across many industries,” said Stephen Petrucci, Superintendent of School District #60. “This investment ensures our students are prepared to enter the workforce with confidence and the credentials they need to succeed.”

This contribution allows students to access Occupational First Aid and H2S Alive training programs, reducing employment barriers and opening doors to future opportunities.

These certifications not only strengthen students' safety knowledge but also fulfill requirements for dual credit programs at Northern Lights College, creating a seamless transition from high school to post-secondary education.

“Safety is a core value at Shell, and we’re proud to support initiatives that instill this value in young people as they prepare to enter the workforce,” said Vanessa Jocko, Corporate Relations Non-Technical Risk Stakeholder Advisor. “We’re thrilled to partner with School District #60 to help students achieve their goals.”

The collaboration between Shell Canada Ltd. and School District #60 highlights a mutual dedication to creating opportunities for regional youth while supporting workforce readiness in local industries.

By eliminating financial and logistical obstacles to obtaining essential certifications, this initiative opens doors for students to pursue education and employment opportunities that might have been unattainable.
