RCMP in Dawson Creek are investigating multiple deaths in a 24-hour period

On September 9th the Dawson Creek RCMP responded to two separate drug overdose deaths within a span of less than 24 hours.

The RCMP were advised by Emergency Health Services on September 9th at around 5:30pm that 43-year-old woman was found deceased in a makeshift shelter near 17th Street and Willowbrook Crescent in Dawson Creek.

Police arrived and discovered several signs indicating that the woman had been using illicit drugs prior to her death according to the media release.

The following day on September 10 at around 1:00pm the RCMP were notified from a by stander that a 30-year-old male was found deceased in a park near Chamberlain Driver and 15th Street, Dawson Creek.

Once again, police found several items suggesting recent drug use prior to his death.

Due to the rapid succession of these two overdose-related deaths, the Dawson Creek RCMP are warning the public of a possible toxic drug supply in Dawson Creek.

The British Columbia Coroners Service has assumed jurisdiction over the death investigations and is actively looking into these cases.
