Man arrested and charged after ‘dangerous encounter’ in Dawson Creek

Daniel Querin, age 50 was successfully apprehended by the local RCMP after dangerous encounter where he fled from the police, rammed a police vehicle and drove through a crowded area attempting to evade custody.

South Peace RCMP received a report on September 20 stating that Querin was driving a truck while pulling a trailer close to 102nd Avenue and 11th Street, Dawson Creek.

The RCMP quickly responded and were able to locate the truck, but when the frontline officers attempted to stop him, Querin rammed the police vehicle before fleeing on to Alaska Avenue.

Further reports received by the RCMP stated that Querin had driven across the sidewalk and over medians through the Dawson Creek Art Gallery parking lot, almost hitting several pedestrians according to the media release.

Querin then drove against traffic through the 8th Street roundabout, causing significant damage before ultimately crashing into the yard of a nearby business. Although police found the truck again, he managed to escape once more. Eventually, officers apprehended Querin after his vehicle broke down and safely took him into custody.

According to the media release Querin has been charged with assaulting a police officer with a weapon, obstructing a police officer, two counts of flight from a police officer, driving while disqualified, failure to stop after accident with a person, refusal to comply with a demand and breach of a release order.

Querin has a history of similar encounters with law enforcement in Dawson Creek. In August 2022, he used a stolen truck to ram a police vehicle while trying to evade arrest. During that incident, he was apprehended and found to be in possession of several loaded firearms, along with violating multiple conditions of his release.

In another incident in August 2022, Daniel was found driving a stolen truck, which he used to ram into police vehicles.
