Life in Layers is a solo art exhibit by Donna Bozarth which opened on September 6th and is on display until September 28th at Peace Gallery North.
The solo art exhibit titled ‘Life in Layers’ is presented by Donna Bozarth and consists of all new pieces that have been made with multiple materials and techniques including working with clay and printmaking.
“I find beauty in expressive mark-making and enjoy creating layers and texture with an unexpected emotion. Experimenting became the norm for my art residency where I could combine different printmaking techniques on both paper and clay. Taking a traditional printmaking technique to clay meant I had to create recipes for ceramic inks, slips and pastels that were suitable for clay,” said Donna Bozarth in an artist’s statement for the exhibit.
“My portraiture and figurative images have been translated through the use of printmaking techniques, such as monoprints, silkscreens, linocuts, dry-point engraving, solar plate etchings, cyanotypes, and clay monoprinting onto paper and clay sculptures. I want my work to celebrate the marks we make on the world, those imperfections and show the beautiful quirkiness that is in all of us; much like a life in layers.”
This exhibit is only open until September 28, so if you haven’t had the chance to experience a ‘Life in Layers’, visit Peace Gallery North at 10015 100 Ave, Fort St John.
