Kealy’s victory in this election reflects his strong local support, and a commitment to addressing key issues facing the community.
Jordan Kealy has been declared the B.C. Conservative Party MLA for Peace River North in the 2024 provincial election and is expected to secure a position in the legislative assembly, where he will represent the interests and concerns of the region's residents.
“I want to express how grateful I am to everybody that got out to vote. I want to thank my wife, my family, my volunteer supporters, and my campaign manager,” said Kealy in an interview with Alaska Highway News. “This couldn’t happen without them.”
Jordan Kealy campaigned against former Peace River North MLA Dan Davies, who represented the North Peace for the last two terms, and NDP candidate Ian McMahon.
“We saw a record turnout when it comes to voters and we unfortunately saw a demonstration of what happens when you split a vote,” said Kealy. “That’s what has happened down south, so I’ve got my fingers crossed that we might see some changes in the outlook over the next couple days.”
According to the preliminary results, Jordan Kealy has been elected as the MLA for Peace River North, securing more than 70% of the votes. Dan Davies followed with 20%, while Ian McMahon garnered 6%.
“I’m very proud to have had the run that I have including two terms as MLA, and four with City Council. So, I’m proud of what I’ve done in the community,” said Davies on Saturday, October 19. “I certainly wish Jordan well, I think he has a huge job ahead of him.”
Kealy is the current PRRD Director for Area B and will now serve as the MLA for Peace River North for a four-year term, extending his position into 2028.
“I still completely embrace the fact, that even if I am in opposition, I am still here to represent and listen to the people of our area. I will always make sure I deal with my constituents and try to help them.”
Kealy’s fellow B.C. Conservative Larry Neufeld also won the election in Peace River South, securing his position as the new MLA for the region.
Based on the preliminary election results from October 19th, Larry Neufeld is projected to have received around 70 percent of the votes.
