The annual Have a Heart Radiothon is back and fundraising for seniors’ comfort at Peace Villa Thursday, June 13, from 8:00am to 5:30pm at Home Hardware, which is located at 9820 108 Street, Fort St. John.
The Fort St. John Hospital Foundation partnered is partnered with Bell Media’s Move 98.5 FM crew for this event with a goal of raising $50,000. According to a media release, Dr. Henry Ma of Apex and Accent Dental as well as PETRONAS will match donations up to $10,000 each.
This fundraiser will be raising money for the purchase of Serene Edge mattresses, which are specialized mattresses that are designed to inflate and deflate as needed to provide comfort, reduce and prevent pressure soars for residents. These mattresses will also lessen the need for staff to turn residents every thirty minutes to 2 hours.
“The population of residents at Peace Villa are frail, and some are bedridden. These factors can lead to pressure sores, causing pain for the residents,” said Pat Evans, Manager for Residential Care at Peace Villa Residential Care Facility. She added, “These mattresses will offer both preventative and restorative benefits for residents.”
All donations are a significant contribution toward reaching the goal and the community has been invited to join in person, call to support, or by means of online donation at https://fsjhospitalfoundation.ca/events/#haveaheart.
