The City of Fort St. John is working with the FSJACL on a potential housing project that would be located at what is left of the old FSJ Hospital site according to a media release.

The City sold a portion of the old hospital site previously, where a 115 unit senior housing complex is currently being developed by VRS Communities.

“This potential housing project represents another exciting step in creating an inclusive and vibrant community. This potential project will provide more affordable, accessible housing options that meet the diverse needs of our residents as we continue building a community where everyone can thrive,” shared City of Fort St. John Mayor Lilia Hansen.

The proposed project would be operated by the Fort St. John Association for Community Living, aiming to provide inclusive and accessible workforce housing.

It would feature a mix of unit sizes, ranging from one to three bedrooms, and will include subsidized units specifically designed for individuals with disabilities in the community.

Although still in its early stages, the Fort St. John Association for Community Living is collaborating with BC Builds to advance this potential project by issuing a Property Opportunity Notice.

“We are excited to play a part in addressing the housing needs of our community, specifically affordable and accessible housing, in collaboration with the City and BC Builds. We are excited to provide options for those we support and model inclusion,” stated Fort St. John Association for Community Living Chief Executive Officer Jordan Soggie.
