18 criminal charges have been laid against a 43-year-old Dawson Creek man following a firearms trafficking investigation.
Travis West has been charged with 13 counts of unlawfully transferring a firearm, one count of possessing a firearm with a tampered serial number, one count of possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, and three counts of unsafe storage of a firearm.
Police executed a search warrant as part of the investigation at a related residence, where they discovered and seized several firearms.
Among the items recovered were a prohibited shotgun, a firearm with its serial number scratched off, and a large quantity of ammunition.
Some of the firearms were found improperly stored, with ammunition placed nearby in a disorganized manner.
The investigation into Travis West’s activities revealed that several firearms registered to him were subsequently used by others in a number of violent criminal incidents across the Peace Region.
At the end of the media release, the Dawson Creek RCMP reminded the public to report any illegal activity involving firearms, ammunition, or weapons to law enforcement.
