The local RCMP received a report on September 7, around 6:50am, of a single vehicle collision that occurred on Jackfish Frontage at highway 97, which left a driver trapped in their vehicle.

A white Toyota GR86 was found flipped over with the driver pinned in the vehicle when the local RCMP arrived. The driver was extracted by Fort St John Fire Services and immediately transported to the Fort St John Hospital for emergency care.

“The vehicle was headed northbound on Highway 97 and it appears the driver misjudged the exit to Jackfish Frontage,” said Corporal Shawn Ingham, Watch Commander for the Fort St John RCMP. “We believe speed was a factor but are trying to understand the totality of the circumstances involved in this collision.”

Local RCMP will continue to investigate and would like any drivers in the area with possible dashcam footage or anyone who might have observed something suspicious in the area between 6:20am and 6:50am to please contact the Fort St. John RCMP.
