Homeowner reports damage to Fort St. John RCMP caused by a stray bullet.
Local RCMP received a report on December 6, just after 7am from a homeowner whose house had been struck by a stray bullet causing damage throughout the night.
The Fort St. John RCMP, along with plain clothed units from serious crimes responded to a residence on the 9000 block of 117 Avenue.
The police learned damage had been caused inside the home to a kitchen cabinet and a door, after the bullet had first entered through an exterior wall according to the media release.
“The investigation is in the early stages,” said Staff Sergeant Scott Watson, Acting Officer In Charge of the Fort St John RCMP detachment. “While a criminal investigation is ongoing, the matter was not targeted and there is no threat to the community, nor was it related to the drug trade.”
Thankfully no one was injured in the incident, and further investigation revealed the bullet had come from a residence close by.
The Fort St. John RCMP are continuing their investigation and encourage anyone with additional information to contact them at 250-787-8100.
