Peace Gallery North presents the 'Threads of Harmony' textile exhibit in Fort St. John, which will be open to the public during gallery hours until June 26.
Black Vibrations by Suzon Anne Tremblay is one of many pieces of art on display as part of the 'Threads of Harmony' exhibit.
The opening reception for the Threads of Harmony textile exhibit was well attended at Peace Gallery North on July 5, which features a collection of work from various artists throughout the Peace Region.
“Everything in this exhibit is so fascinating,” said an event organizer at Peace Gallery North. “The quilts are amazing, their quality of work alone. I know people that do these things but didn't know if they could express themselves or bring it to sell. They might think that their work is not that eloquent to sell to the public, but by looking at the artists here and their work it can be empowering and inspirational.”
This event offered food and beverages for the public, while guests had the opportunity to view the wonderful examples of art that were on display. Textile art blends history and creativity, weaving tradition and innovation while unlike other arts, textiles invite touch, bridging craftsmanship and expression.
The gallery is open 11am-5pm, Tuesday through Saturday and will be hosting the Threads of Harmony exhibit until June 26, before preparing for Holly Kirkpatrick Ulrich’s exhibit which runs from August 2 -31.
