A pair of suspicious fires in Fort Nelson

Police are seeking witnesses after a pair of suspicious fires took place in Fort Nelson on September 8.

The Northern Rockies RCMP received a report of a house on fire September 8, at approximately 12:20am on the 5300 block Cottonwood Road. The blaze was eventually extinguished by the Fort Nelson Fire Rescue who also responded to the scene, however not before the fire damaged other neighboring homes.

The house was found to be empty, and it seems that no one was hurt in the fire according to a media release

The Northern Rockies RCMP responded to a second fire, later the same morning, to what was apparently an unoccupied camper on the 5400 block of 48 Ave

“Both fires are suspicious in nature and investigators are working to determine if they are related,” said Staff Sergeant Kris Clark of the BC RCMP. “We are looking to speak with anyone with any information about either of these fires who has yet to speak with police.”

Anyone with information, surveillance video, or dashcam footage from the area is encouraged to reach out to the Northern Rockies RCMP at 250-774-2700.
