Fort St John is currently looking for artists with a connection to the Peace to propose a collection of art wraps, which will be installed along the 100 Street corridor with the people and places of Fort St John in mind according to the city.
Up to 4 boxes can be selected by the artists for their series proposal, with selected applicants receiving $700 per utility box design.
"We are thrilled about the Utility Box Art Wrap program, seeing its immense potential to enhance the street experience and artistic growth in Fort St. John while also deterring graffiti vandalism. By offering opportunities for artists to create in public spaces, we aim to foster mentorship between seasoned and emerging artists and celebrate the vibrant creativity of our community," said Eryn Griffith, Arts and Culture Manager for the City of Fort St. John.
The city began looking for artists on May 18, while applications will be accepted until Friday, June 14. Applications for this project should include a proposal for a series of wrap designs, an artist's CV, and a 2-8 image portfolio of their previous work.
Digital and fine artists will be considered while collaborations and partnerships are highly encouraged by the city, especially between established and emerging artists.
